Secrets of Success

Try A Treadmill Desk!

I walk on a treadmill with a desk over it while I work all day. I get in an extra 6 - 10 miles depending on the day, burning between 600 and 1000 calories! emoticon

  • How do you add a desk to the treadmill?

  • I have a TrekDesk, such a fantastic way to get moving! I use my laptop hooked up to a flat screen TV as a monitor so I'm not looking down all the time. This isn't for that extra hard running workout, though! This is a slower walk, maybe 1.5-2.5 miles per hours, but you can keep that up FOR hours. On a walk-only day, I can easily walk five or more miles. Really builds up the calories burned count AND my endurance. Have fun! - by WRITERFIT

  • Read Drop Dead Healthy for more information on treadmill desks; the author, A.J. Jacobs, is very funny. He built his own tread/desk and talks about his experiences in using it. He also mentions that, to burn more calories, you can use the treadmill on "manual" instead of motorizing it. - by AZIL5678

Seems it would be hard to get any work done. - by JCW001
  • I've been researching treadmill desks and there are many types: treadmill and desk together, a separate desk for a treadmill you already own, small shelves or do it yourself desks. I already have a treadmill so I don't want to buy a new one. I also don't plan on spending the entire work day at the desk so I don't want to spend $700 on a fancy pants add-on desk. I found this website with a simple and inexpensive treadmill desk you can make yourself. I'm going to make one this weekend. Wish me luck! http://wholelifestylenutriti

Just wondering does it matter what type of treadmill to use: motorized vs. nonmotorized? - by ELAMAY4
  • So, do you build one or buy one? - by HEALTHYARTIST1
