Food is anything which nourishes the body. Thirteen elements enter into the composition of the body:
Oxygen, 62 1/2%
carbon, 21 1/2%
hydrogen, 10%
nitrogen, 3%
calcium, phosphorus, potassium, sulphur, chlorine, sodium, magnesium, iron, and fluorine the remaining 3%.

Others are found occasionally, but, as their uses are unknown, will not be considered.

I get my GBOMBS every day as well as the Daily Dozen every day. emoticon

I tend to eat similar things each day with dinner varying as I cook a new (or old) recipe every few days.

I eat 2 blended salad smoothies in my VitaMix with protein powder every day filled with Trader Joes Cruciferous Crunch (kale, broccoli, red and green cabbage, Brussels sprouts) and spinach, flax seed, chia seed and some fruit. I also have some banana and peanut butter, steel cut oatmeal with dates, raisins, blueberries and walnuts.

For lunch I make water sauteed beets, zucchini, mushroom, turmeric and Trader Joes Orange Champagne Vinegar and ľ cup raw onion on top. I make a tostada with corn tortilla, homemade beans in my InstantPot, guacamole, salsa and some cruciferous crunch on top for some nice crunch.

Dinner varies but is typically a soup or stew. I also have a snack which at the moment is an apple and a couple of mandarin orange cuties.

Itís a lot of calories, but I burn a lot of calories on my elliptical and my weight is steady.

When I think of daily exercise time spent, I still relate it to my childhood when I had such fun being active. I had never heard the word exercise. Running until I was out of breath, counting how many times I could skip rope were playing. Exercise (in my book) is the same thing as playing.

I am so glad to see that someone else is doing 120 minutes of exercise a day. I just love getting on my elliptical and watching nutrition you tube videos or reading books for a couple of hours, or even more.

My mom is always telling me that I am over-doing it, but Dr. Greger recommends doing at least 90 minutes a day of moderate exercise. There is a study that Dr. Greger cites that shows 30 min is better than 15 min and 45 min is better than 30 min and so on up to 90 min. The study stopped at 90 minutes but he speculates that more exercise is even better.

However, my body has adapted to the level of exercise and I have discovered my calories burned is decreasing, that is my weight has gone up a couple of pounds while maintaining the same calories eaten and amount of exercise for the last 6 months or so.

Here is my post for quick reference:

Dr. Joel Fuhrman recommends eating GBOMBS every day. Greens, beans, onions, mushrooms, berries and seeds.

Dr. Michael Greger recommends his daily dozen: beans, berries, other fruits, cruciferous vegetable, greens, other vegetables, flax seeds, nuts and seeds, herbs and spices (especially turmeric), whole grains, 5 10-oz beverages (especially water), 90 minutes exercise, vitamin B12 and vitamin D.

He has a phone app called Dr. Gregerís Daily Dozen which allows you to keep track of which categories you have eaten from each day and the recommended servings in each category.
