Each day that I make healthy choices I feel that energetic glow that makes life so joyous. And that glow improves with practice. I choose to embrace who I am today. And I take responsibility for the quality of my life by making responsible and healthy choices in all aspects of my life. The by-product of a Healthy lifestyle is a healthy body weight. I'm not exactly sure what number that is for me. If I keep my focus on living my healthiest every day, I am sure that a lot of different numbers will be healthy for me, along the way.

My Goals:
Lower my A1C!

Make Healthy Choices

Keep a Positive Attitude

Take full responsibility for my quality of life.

My Program:
On August 9th, I went back to my old account on Atkins.com and started following Induction (the first stage with 20 net carbs. Net carbs are total grams carbs - fiber grams.) At my Dr.s appointment 10 days later, I told my Dr. that my blood glucose levels were too low at bedtime (78) and she told me to go off meds (Invokana 100mg) and agreed to let me try and keep my sugar levels low by diet and exercise. I keep accruing information and have since acquired a copy of Dr. Fung's book "The Obesity Code" where he recommends a program of Intermittent fasting to lower insulin levels in the bloodstream. I have been eating a full day of a low carb diet one day and just eating dinner on the alternate day for about a week now. My body seems to be responding well to this and I am losing weight. Even more significant to me is my fasting blood sugars are in non-diabetic ranges. I keep waiting for them to creep up, but so far they have been lower than when I was taking medication. I will continue on

Personal Information:
I am a native New Yorker (upstate) who was transplanted to Texas (Katy)
61 year old mother of five - ages 34, 31, 27, 26 and 22. Four boys and one girl (26 year old). My husband and I have been married for 38 years.

Other Information:
I am smoke-free since 2/15/2007

Newly diagnosed as type 2 diabetic started insulin treatment on 1/28/2016. Now off insulin. Oral medications only 2/15/16 UPDATE 8/21/16 off diabetes meds on low carb diet.

Nice to hear from you! We should have taken a moment to really meet along the highway planning a comfort break for you at Exit 50 on Thruway 90. Keep it in mind for another time....it would be so fun to do something so cool as that! Your trip really had you on the move....so sorry your Uncle passed during this time, but I hope the rest of the journey was filled with happier times.

Now that you are home in Texas, I hope your Plan is back on and you are workin' it! Do tell....what's been going on?

Here, I am enjoying the addition of a new little granddaughter, a first for my youngest son and his wife. Yesterday we visited at their new home, just a half mile away from us. In it just 1-1/2 days, it was decorated already as if they had been there for years. And I thought I was a type A, haha.

    Enjoy your Sunday! emoticon

Hello, friend! Thinking of you today. What are you up to these days?

I just started another Challenge; this time I'm behaving like I mean it, though I won't lie -- it has not been easy. I'm busy with client work always, and DH and I are celebrating the joy of a new grandbaby in our family, Alexandra. She is a first for DS3 and his beautiful wife.

Drop me a spark post one day when you have time..... emoticon
